Waltzing is fun, but why stick to 3 beats ? Irregular waltzes (5 beat, 8 beat, …) are a fun twist of waltzing, and a musical wonder to explore. Zwiefacher are a close parent, mixing pivot steps (on 2 beat) with the waltz steps, leading to many possible variations.

The workshop will be divided in four parts, the duration of which will vary depending on the participants.
First, we will warm up, and review and refine the fundamentals of Balfolk waltzing. This will also set the ground for speaking about the dance, and make the rest of the day easier, so please come, event if you think you know everything there is to know about Balfolk waltzing.
The second part will be dedicated to 5 beat waltz. This is the fundamental irregular watz, and understanding it deeply is the foundation of all the others.
In the third part we will approach more irregular waltzes, and learn how to fit our steps to the music.
Lastly, we will introduce the pivot steps and start our journey into the world of Zwiefacher.
Practical informations
Where is it? In the dance studio in Kentish Town Community Centre, 17 Busby Place, London NW5 2SP.
When is it? On Saturday, 28 May 2016, from 2 to 6 PM (including short breaks).
How much does it cost? £20, £25, £30 or £45 depending on your financial capabilities.
I want my workshop to be available to everybody, and that’s why I have this pricing structure. As a guideline, please pay
£20 if you earn less than £20,000 a year;
£25 if you earn between £20,000 and £30,000 a year;
£30 if you earn more than £30,000 a year;
£45 if you earn a lot and/or you want to support Balfolk Rendezvous.
Terms and Conditions
Your registration is confirmed by the full payment using the details given after your registration. If you retract yourself before the 13th of May 2016, the full price will be reimbursed (excluding eventual transfer costs). Between the 13th and the 23rd of May, you will get reimbursed half of what you paid. In case of retraction after the 23th of May, no reimbursement will happen. You can give your registration slot to someone else, as long as you tell the organiser by e-mail at latest 24 hours before the beginning of the workshop.
